We tried mediation. . .

In the 6 years leading up to trial, if AARP had come to the table with a real offer at any time, this could have been easily and amicably settled, but AARP is run by (in my opinion) horrible people and each time the court required mediation AARP offered a pittance. That information is now publicly available.
The court required two mediations, the judge even encouraged them to mediate as to avoid a trial in December 2022. Obviously, they refused.
o Mediation 1 - May 2021 AARP offered $7,500 – my lawyers fees were close to this amount for that day! While I cannot share exactly what the mediator shared from them, the gist was essentially - you will never get to court, so take this pittance we are graciously offering you.
o Mediation 2 - September 2022 AARP offered $140,000 - Again, mediation lasted hours and by this time they had lost Motion for Summary Judgement (MSJ) two times in a row. I had spent many hundreds of thousands of dollars more and my lost income was in the seven figures.
As of now, AARP owes my attorneys $2.2M and roughly $2.3M to me for the award so $4.5M (a little more than that $140K 🤣). These figures do not include the millions in fees to their Harvard educated lawyers, nor all the thousands of hours AARP employees worked on this over the last 6+ years. It would not be a stretch to say this cost them more than $10M - we will never know. For perspective, that is the equivalent of what 1.3M members pay annually to join this “non-profit”.
